I finally ran out of my American deodorant. My wife (read as: my wife), spent the 6 months before our Aliyah preparing (shopping) and bought a years supply of every toiletry imaginable. Until 2 weeks ago we had enough childrens Tylenol, Q tips and deodorant to last us until 120. Then a few teenagers knocked on our door to collect toiletries for the chayalim and my wife (see above) donated everything we had in our house (not sure what the army plans on doing with all that childrens tylenol). BH we were happy to donate and buy new stuff, the only problem is that Israeli deodorant just doesn’t work. A few things to point out:
- I bought Adidas deodorant thinking that it would be the American kind (had mostly English on it), it wasn’t, it doesn’t work and doesn’t even smell good.
- We all have had the experience being too close to someone (in a supermarket, on a bus, sitting next to you on a plane) and asking yourself why don’t they just wear deodorant. Turns out they might be, it just doesn’t work.
- There are Israelis that wear cologne instead of deodorant. I don’t get it. The problem is cologne you start smelling really good but fades fast while deodorant smells good all day long. See chart below:
- Israelis seem to love Axe (strong high school Abercrombie vibes). I will try that next and see if there is an Axe effect on the women of RBS.
- Maybe part 2 can be reviewing different Israeli deodorants. To be continued…
May we all be zocheh to see the coming of Moshiach and be squashed together in the Beis Hamikdash wearing deodorant that works.
Amen.
